On the rear caliper large slide pin, there is a "spring washer" that has a concave side and a convex side. Does anybody know which side needs to face what when installing the slide pin? Thanks!

Well just since no one has replied, can you be more specific? What were you doing that you ran into this problem?

I never replied because there is no "spring washer" on the slide pins on the rear caliper. Are you talking about the flat plate that has the tabs on it that holds the 2 bolts together? It's number 20 in this: http://www.motosport.com/atv/oem-parts/HONDA/2005/TRX400EX/REAR-BRAKE-CALIPER

EDIT: Ok, now that I think about it I know what you mean. That flat round plate that goes on the inside of the piston (it's not even listed on the parts fische actually). That goes with the concave side in. But you don't really need it, I think it's just to stop squeaky brakes or something. I took mine out awhile ago because it made it easier change the pads out, somehow. That 1/16th of an inch makes a big difference.

Thanks for the replies but no it is the washer that goes on the large slide pin on the rear caliper. It is referred to as a spring washer in the factory service manual. It keeps the large slide pin from loosening by itself.

I got everything figured out though. It really doesn't matter which way the washer faces. I installed the washer convex side towards slide pin and concave side towards the caliper bracket. I was servicing/regreasing the slide pins on my rear caliper and installing new brake pads. Caliper was badly dragging on the rotor before, now it works smooth as silk. Regreasing the pins made a huge difference.

Here is where the washer is mentioned for future reference.
