Did you do any calculations to figure out where to place the countershaft or did you just put the motor in where it fit and deal with the countershaft location.

There is not a whole that can be done to lighten the chassis. I dropped weight by not using beadlocks (went with A5's), stock nerfs are light, I had steel DG's, xmx hollow axel, lighter 2ply tires. Also, remember, the gas tank is huge and one gallon of gas is about 8lbs.
Logan's is under 300.....hehe.

Ya we have heavy tires right now I'm gunna get lighter bolts drill holes around the gas tank look at putting a smaller gas tank cut some of the longer bolts off some other misc stuff maybe ti nuts n bolts

I had thought about the ti nuts n bolts but I don't believe the cost outweighs the gain. Now, if I had the cash flow, I'd do it in a second. There has to be about 20 pounds in just nuts n bolts.
Does the CRF put out more power than the other regular quad engines? I notice a lot of people use them for hybrids. Are they just lighter?

Bike engines have always produced more power this engine stock has almost as much as our built can am engine and is alot lighter, had a few problems test need to put a fan back on it and run engine ice gets a little hot, maybe do some e85 stuff to

Have you had a chance to drag race a built DS? Or do you know for sure this is a much stronger motor and less weight? In other words, is this conversation worth the time, effort and money?
Why does everyone use the crf engine instead of a 450 kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki?

Cause its a honda they are bullet proof and make a lot of power once you start dumping money into them...Idk if yfzChin is the 10/11 efi motor but that bad boy makes 58hp on the showroom floor...pro national built motors are only around 65-68hp.

The conversion is 100% worth it we lost almost 40 lbs the can am engines aren't reliable at all when built and do not make good power , the Honda bike engine has great reliability, light weight and makes crazy hp when built . Hope that answers your questions

The quad guys have been getting the Dirt bike "Handme" downs for years now. There is no comparison between a stock Dirt Bike Motor and a stock Quad motor.. All day long a Bike motor will out perform the quad motors... And they are way easier to make power with.. I have an APEX 450f with a 09 Yamaha 450f motor in it that I have been racing completely stock up here in the Canadian Pro Class, and have pulled off some holeshots, and am not lacking power against built KTMs, Honda, Suzukis, and Yamaha's. I have raced built Can-Am's and Suzuki's and there is no comparison even to the stock Hybrid motor...

Bring on the Hybrids! Nice build, I have a rolling Can-Am Chassis left over that I was gonna stuff a carb'd YZ450 motor into!

Getting enough room for this engine was hard idk if you would be able to fit the yfz in there the throttle body was challenge to get figured out , the new yfz engine would be sweet cause of the way the head is designed with throttle body in front n exhaust coming out the back
