We had labs when I was a kid.....before electronic collars:rolleyes: I think that is a lazy way of training, it may work but I don't think it's right. I belive shock therapy is illegal for humans, so why put your pets through the same thing?JMO:)

I use my dogs for duck and upland bird hunting, there both really smart. I trained them step by step with a book called WaterDog. This book will tell you alot about the Lab and how to teach them to do about any thing with hunting and fetching that you need.

i dont hunt but i do own a black lab. i think some of it is instincted. my dog has never aided in huntin in his life but for fun one day i gave him a water balloon to see what he would do. he carried it around the yard with out breaking it. same with an egg. on the opposite end of jaw strength he can shred a solid rubber toy in a week

Nice buck!;)

You dont half to hunt your lab but they are going to want to work(play fetch) for you. There are lots of vidios and books out there that teach how to train your lab to do some awsome things.:)
