CR85 Rebuild

A few months ago, I asked if anyone wanted to see it, and some did, so here it is.

I found this beautiful bike off a local classifieds similar to craigslist. This is the way I brought it home.

Cleaned on the motor for a few minutes wiping all the old crud off and this is what I found. I didn't expect much since as you can barely see in the first pics, the head was off the cylinder, but it did turn over.

New bumper, shock rebuilt, and linkage and spring powdered red. The yellow spring wasn't gonna cut it.

Finally get to put the motor in. I ended up splitting the cases 3 times before I got everything right. Errors on my part.

Finally got to see it look like a bike. I bought some new pull-off wheels and tired from a guy on craigslist. You could tell he wasn't thrilled about shipping them to me since I found him about 300 miles away, but it all worked out.

This is where I got to before I just couldn't stand it anymore and had to take it for a test ride. Fired right up and ran great. Took a while to get the carb dialed in, but it's pretty close.

Fully assembled. All I have left is graphics. I designed some pretty cool looking graphics, but they didn't fly with the girlfriend who I built this bike for, so back to the drawingboard there.

I kept the motor all stock since my inexperienced girlfriend is riding it mostly, and it has plenty of power as it is. I also didn't really go putting any trick parts on it because I already am WAY too deep in this bike if I ever decide to sell it. If I ever do sell it, it will probably be in favor of a 110 so she can ride it with a little more comfort. But me, I like the 85. At 6'4", it's a lot more comfortable than most pitbikes and pulls me around a whole lot faster. I spent a lot of time cleaning, and cleaning, and cleaning on this bike, but I think the end result is worth it, as I basically have a new bike. I also bought the forks off craigslist but had to have them rebuilt. I also rebuilt all the bearings in the swingarm and linkage, so it's a tight bike. Anybody have any ideas for some girly graphics that I won't mind being seen with for when I ride the bike?
