my friend wanted me to post something asking which everyone thought that he should get...a predator or a raptor. What are the advantages over the others...He rides pretty much all around but probably the most woods.
thanks for any info

the thing i dont like about the rapter is that, tall bace axil is shorter than front a arms easyer to flip....to me atleast and the predator will most likly have problems because they just came out and polaris still has to work the bugs out of them....just my 2cents

MaTT....

The Raptor is a good bike, but needs extended a-arms and an extended axel to lower the ceter of gravity. Stock, the CG is high and it fills tippy around corners.

The Predator has a new steering system and everyone that owns Preds claim that they love it and now everything else they ride feels loose. It may have some bugs in it, but engine reliabilty should not be too much of a factor sense the company that is making the engines for the bike make engines for Subaru I believe. Only time will tell on the bugs and Im sure Polaris will try to kill em asap to get their top quad to its full potential.

Just my .02 cents. Personally, I would go with the Pred. :)

Did you try turning? j/k

Seriously though, The Raptor is a great, proven (at least compared to the Pred) quad - just don't buy an 01, and it responds VERY well to motor mods & work, but it does need wider a-arms & axle, and a longer swingarm.

I have ridden a Pred on 2 occasions, both were stock. The thing moves, and is very comfortable, except for the stock bars (but do stock bars on ANY quad not suck?), and the seat could use a little more padding. The Razr's didn't seem to hook up for beans, but new tires aren't that big of a deal. My guess is that it will respond very well to motor mods/work, but that remains to be seen. I don't think they will have problems ala the tranny in the 01 Raptors, but we'll just have to wait & see.

hhmmmmmm..........

I own an 02 Raptor and i see the shorter wheelbase and width as being a plus for trail riding, at least where I ride. Some places DS650s need to be lifted sideways through narrow passages and obstacles. But, in general, when riding open trails, a wider set of a arms would be a great advantage. As you can see, many members of the site say that the 400ex reigns supreme in the handling department, yet they go out and bu extended a arms. A raptor is a great machine after you put a little money into the handling departent. The otor department is already phenomenal.

If there where more aftermarket parts for the pred.

I think the thing would kick *****.

The rapterd is a nice quad but it had to prove its self just like the pred. needs to now.

It will prolly be as nice quad..Givin the time and how polaris reacts to the problems it will have.

I believe that the manufacture has a big part in how good the quad is.

If they are off the ball and you dont get vary good costumer survice, well then your gonna have some issues.

Polaris is a small company compared to Yamiya (lol)

My friend has Always had good survice from them (when needed)

The otor department is already phenomenal. the reason us EX riders go out an buy extended a-arms is because most of us race MX. Extended a-arms help out a ton on an MX track. I used to own a raptor and they are great quads. They are very tippy and are possibly the worst cornering quad of all time. They are wheelie prone and if they aren't on a wheelie they are about to turn over. But that can easily be fixed. I think a set of ELKAS all the way around a raptor would help a bunch. But no matter what you do to a raptor it still won't corner as good as a Honda or some of the other quads. As far as a Predator I would stay away from them for a while. You can't even shift gears with the throttle on and that scares me. If the raptor and predator is his only choices I would go with a Raptor. But the smart thing to do would be to buy an EX :D ;)
