Hey guys just looking for opinions on a good truck tire. i will be on road 90% but i still want an all around good truck tire, right now i'm running 185/75/16 but i may go a little skinnier because they are close to rubbing. it's a 02 1500 z71 with aftermarket aluminum wheels (forgot the size) i'm looking at bf goodrich all terrain but i know there are a ton of tires to choose from and i don't know very much about them, also truck is not lifted

are they better than the bfg's? I don't need a super soft tire i'd rather have them last longer

And also what size do you recommend for a little bit skinnier tire than i have now, i don't know if it's a really common size or not. thanks

Did you mean 185 or 285? 185 is awfully small for that truck. If you plan on ever going in the mud I would avoid bfg's go with either nitto terra graplers or toyo open country a/t's.

How wide are the wheels? 265 is about right on stock height chevy's IMO. They aren't as tall, but you get better mileage and never have to worry about rubbing. I have some Mastercraft ATs, CTs, and MTs so I can pretty well tell you about any of those if you have any interest.

bfg all terrains are the absolute worst all terrain tire. Maybe 20 years ago they were the best, but they suck now compared to other stuff.

Firestone destination at, single best all terrain tire ever made. Ive had them on multiple trucks and never ever had an issue

I run 265-70-17 Nitto Terra grapplers on my 2005 Z71 Silverado. They are a good all-terrain tire and my last set went for 60,000 miles.

I ran Sport Kings for years and had very good luck with them. I put them in some deep mud all the time and I never got stuck with them.
When I replaced them, I went with Dick Cepec mud country and they seem to be very good in the mud and on the highway.

I would stay away from BFG all terrains, I dont understand all the glory a BFG gets. They dont wear evenly (cupping), shake bad when they get worn down, just not impressed by them at all. They are overpriced and over rated IMO. Like some body posted earlier I like the Firestone Destination A/T, I had a set and they were quiet, smooth, looked good & were priced very good.

Thanks for your help guys, i ended up going with cooper A/T's. I almost went with the mud terrains but i figure the at's will last longer
