Rear shock

I just got my tax return, and was wondering if the works ultracross dual rate rear shock is that much better than stock. Im racing amateur(sp?) motocross this year, and need somthina little better. I only have $500, and i want a new shock, not a used one. Thanks for any input.

have you thought about getting it rebuilt? I've heard some good things about them

and it'll be over $150 cheaper than that rear works, sorry i dont know how the rear works performs tho
