rear chain sliders?

just did a swap into a LSR swinger. I run skid plates, read up on it and saw alot of guys running banshees style sliders as opposed to a TM designworks slider because of size, price simplicity. I have a great piece of poly-something riveted to the skid that I`m not chewing up. Does the slider protect, keep the chain in line, preserve sprockets? what do you guys have to say?
