Are hot rod main bearings the best bet? All balls? Opinions?

I actually have the 8 ball mains in my 86 bottom end. Before I split the cases I grabbed the mag and could feel minimal side to side play. I'm not sure if there should be absolutely ZERO Side to side play or if a tiny bit is normal?

Agreed. My stock 88 bottom end only had seven ball and I upgraded to the 8 ball. I bought mine through ESR.

8 Ball OEM. I woundn't install a Hot Rod bearing, in anything I run. Total crapola! :chinese:

If your looking OEM Honda mains, the CR500 had the 8 ball.

Believe it or not, the Wiseco 250R main bearings are 8 ball.

My motor has one 8 ball and one 7 ball! I just bought two 8 ball Oem Honda bearings off eBay for 48 shipped. I'm not gonna put it back together with unknown main bearings, especially when one is different from the other. The different bearings lead me to believe only one was replaced and not as a pair at one point.
