I dont know about the rear axle but the a arms will fit and you will need to get different upper shock mounts for the shocks to work

QJ, I want to do this same thing to my sons 300ex. I remember the guys name that we need to talk to. He makes the shock bracket that makes the 400ex shocks work on the 300ex and he used to have this done on his 300ex. He know has a 400ex. He was toby300ex and I think he might have change sn's to toby400ex. His name is Colby.

Tina, I found all the information for what we are both trying to do.
All that is required to do this conversion is 400ex shocks, a-arms, and tie rods. The 400ex ball joints fit right into your 300ex spindles. The a-arm bushings and everything fit right into your stock frame mounts. When you purchase 400ex a-arms, they come with ball joints and bushings. Everything
bolts right in. But you will need a 300ex to 400ex shock mount. Colby makes these mounts and there is a guy on Ebay that is selling them too. Hey I have finished my homework and yours too. LOL :D

dont mean to ruin it, but a 400EX axle wont work. I know they take the same bearings and so forth. But the space between the bearings is differant, and it wont work....sorry:(

Extremeracer167 is right, the 400ex axle won't fit I already tryed it.

Nate, actually I did think about doing it but it was breif, I was reccomended by Hetricks Racing NOT to do this,I would lilttle if any gains out of it and end up with some power loss somewhere from the top to bottom, but not sure where it might end up, I know alot of people do this, but I truly dont see where Ill getr a thing out of it after listening to his theroy I think he is right...But thanks for the offer...;) Nate, whats your imput on a 400ex front end? Tina, I have been getting reply notices in my email. I am going to do the 300ex to 400ex front end conversion on my sons 300ex. But I am buying brand new tir rods from CFM Racing and using my z400 shocks cuz I was told that someone over at z400central.com put them on a friends 400ex and it worked great.
It will save me money and I know what my shocks have been through.:D Good luck with your hunt for parts. If you need any more help just let me know.

Tina, I will post some pictures when I am done. I don't have to cut the fender mounts because my son has race cut fenders. :D So I already removed them.

You can buy custom shocks from works or elka that will fit without changing shock mounts. They should be 14.5" to 14.75" long. I did this with works and 87 250r a arms and tie rods and it works sweet!
