i know its gonna be a hybrid but it started out a 250r
you guys should be glad to know that it fits on the stock swing arm pivot it dosent have to be moved like the older motor it really looks good an its lighter than the trx motor
the frame started out as a arens that im moddin to a cr500 rear link an all protrax parts i robed from the suzuki so the protrax suzuki frames for sale now if anybody wants it also the new bike minus the motor an electronics bran new took it home an jerked the motor out only started it

I will be surprised if you dont have issues once your line up your chain. Most likely the motor will hit the left lower rail with the stator cover, and also the head will probably end up hitting the upper rail because you'll be rolling the motor back to clear the bottom. Just some things to look at..while your pulling the plan together. Thing out everything ahead of time.. good luck.

There is only one logical thing to do... Put a CR500 engine in it of course!!!

progress needed to move the motor up to clear the bottom frame section so i made some bushings for the piviot bolt that are offset
had to make some anyway the bolt on the r is smaller than the crf http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q5/sj281/photo-17.jpg
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q5/sj281/photo-18.jpg
also had to clearance the lower tube so the stator bolts would clear an notch the inner rail to get the chain ti line up but its almost done motor fits where it needs to be now an i feel this
set up is better the motor is pretty much the same place as the 250r http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q5/sj281/photo-23.jpg

looking good nice fab work on the frame!!
will you have to pull the motor to check valve clearance and how are you going to keep those eccentric bushings from turning at will?

the bushings are pressed in the motor an the swing arm will lock it down too when it tightens up it crushes it all an yea i guess youd have to pull the motor to get the valve cover off thinkin i mite make that rail removable but idk you guys think it would weaken the frame if its done like the walsh style

I think it depends on how its bolted or attached. I don't think it would be too big of an issue.

Nice work!!!

It will be interesting to see how the pivot/counter shaft relationship works out. I noticed on the FI motors the counter shaft is higher in relation to the pivot than on the older carb motors. How does it compare to a 250r?

the location to the 250r is almost the same the old motors need the frame pivot moved up an forward thats why i wanted to use this motor its almost the same as the 250r i figured it will handle better but who knows

Awesome. But is it just me, or is the rear shock not centered in the frame and swingarm? May just be pics as well

sj281
05-15-2012, 09:12 PM
yes its not centered they are offset to the right side to make room for the intake all laegers an walsh are this way

hontrx265r
05-16-2012, 04:44 PM
lookin good, I am curious why you did not run the subframe straight though? It makes a ton more room for intake options and its completely unnecessary to push it in like laeger did originally on the R.

sj281
05-16-2012, 04:55 PM
yea i looked at that idea but the bend like laeger is the only way the seat bumpers touch if i had went straight the would have missed prolly wouldnt have hurt just figured the laeger worked
an as for the intake its a pain any way u go it comes out of the motor an angles up kinda sucks but ill build something

Yfz intake boot works really good and will prob fit with your sub
