Im currently running a 175 main and 52 pilot i wanna put the lid back on but put a couple of one inch holes toward the back so it can still be sorta like not having a lid will i have to change my jetting?
Possibly. Maybe down a size or two.
Why bother-the holes still could get water in there if thats what your worried about.

i read this on a forum that this gives the same advantage of running a open lid but keeps the dirt from getting to the filter better cause the holes is not over the filter. Im not worried about the water i dont ride in muddy conditions i just the performance but wanna keep my filter more cleaner
If you dont have to worry about mud then an outwears cover is an even better idea and money well spent.

EHSRacing.com, or they (EHS) sells them on ebay. The kit with just the plate and outerwear is $55 and the whole lid assembly is $80.
