So, I have a yfz with custom axis/roll design components that I recently picked up for a song and I was thinking of making a youth racer for my little brother. Does anyone on here know if the yz250f bolts up as is or do custom motor mounts have to be fabbed. I have heard that the atvworld bikes and the apexes are made so that when you outgrow youth classes you can just swap out and bolt the 450 back in. Basically I have the chassis and was wondering if it was worth my time to source out a 250f bike as a donor????

i have a friend selling a yz 250f motor machined side case to fit the yfz chasis so you can put the 450 in later with no mods. he also has the carb, electrical, pipe and motor mounts to fit yfz chasis. his son switched to bikes the 250f motor looks factory in the 450 frame he has pics of it in the yfz also.

that sounds awsome. do you know what part of the cases have to be machined?

its already done.he built a tool to machine the sprocket side so the front and rear sprockets are in line. then he made front motor mounts. the rest of the 450 mounts will work with the 250f. the 450 air box and tube also slips right on the carb. alot of guys machined one side of the swing arm instead of the motor but then if you w ant to put the 450 motor back in it won't be right unless you change swing arms. he custom built the pipe also. 450 oil tank and radiator and rad hoses fit fine also. forgot to mention it's a wr motor with the electrical so you can run the yfz headlights if you want and more importantly you can run the fan on the 450 radiator to keep it cool. i built one of these in a 250r and it was alot more work wished i did this yfz wr 250f set up. don't know what he wants for it all, but i'm sure it'll be alot cheaper than buying a doner bike this set up is ready to go and done right. call me if interested and i'll hook you guys up he's not a member of this site. also forgot to mention one more thing. the kicker needs to be extended to clear the frame he did this as well and has the kicker on the motor

I know its for a friend of yours but do you have an idea of what he might want for it shipped? Im in maryland. The reason I ask is I found a used 250f donor bike for 1100 bucks, and I would imagine that your buddy wants more than that. If Im wrong then cool beans, but chances are I will be doing it myself... thus the questions on what needs machine work. (btw, all my friends think Im a tight ***. lol)

it's been a while since we talked about it or the price but i know he still has it i saw it at his house a couple days ago. dont quote me but i think he told me $1,500 shipped. just my opinion but thats a smokin deal considering what all you get and free shipping on top of that. comes with motor, custom pipe, all electrical, carb, extended kicker, and the motor mounts needed. if it were me i'd pass on the donor bike after building motor mounts getting it lined up right, and building a pipe you will be money ahead. call him i'm sure you guys can work out some thing. his name is jimmy his number is (970) 759-5821

Make the call. The time savings would be immense. It sounds like all the hard work is done. My 2 cents.
