Well ZACH[1 of my good friends] is planning on buyin a fully race ready yz80,it has every thing aftermarket just about, first off he is 15 and 5,1 1/2,and he is not plannin on racing what so ever and he only is goin to ride through woods and fields and prob. will not jump alot.the only thing he has owned is a 220bayou and is is pretty slow compared to a yz80 so do you think he should waste hes money on a race ready dirt bike or buy something more better to what areas he will be riding in, and I tried to tell him to not waste his money and buy a xr200 or the now crf150 -230,so what do you think

if i where him id buy a kx 125 and then get good on that... the only reason i wouldnt get a kx100 instead is because once u sold it once u got good, ud be losing alot of money...

get something bigger. around here a 15 year old riding an 80 is considered machine abuse. Get something that you will grow into so that you end up saving money later on. But then again, if he is the one paying for it, go for the best deal.

Let him do what he wants its his money. He will get use to it very quick, just tell him to be very carefull. I got a Dr350, it was my first and only bike. My first time riding it i lost control and ended up with a broken foot and a chipped knee cause i fell and slide into the quad in front of me.

bump...not that I am hatin on him but he is 5,1 he will not be able to get on a 125 without a latter, and plus he only weighs 90 lbs,and he can't bench but about 80lbs but he's still cool, and I'm not worried about him beatting me that just means i have something to get better at,but what i am worried about is he gettin killed on it.

thats what i thought.. 5'1" so hes not going to be comfortable on a 125. id say for him to get a not so race ready bike unless hes getting a steal.

i would suggest a nice honda 4 stroke dirt bike......i learned the hard way...i thought i would love having a two stroke...instead, my wallet keeps getting smaller and smaller, i have spent more time trying to get it to run than i have actually ridding:eek2: seriosuly:mad: if hes going to do trails, a 4 stroke is nice(its hard to keep the r's up on tight trails) and a 4 stroke can take some jumping......IMO tell him to get honda.....anything honda, cuz thats the best:p

I have kx100 and ride desert and trails. If I were to putt along I would have kept a my xr or ttr but I like having my 2 stroke because of the suspension and power. Once you learn to keep the revs up you will be fine. I have ridden single trak and 1 foot wide trails and I have not had a problem riding those. The first time I rode it I just took it easy and got used to the powerband and then I was fine. He would get used the yz but it might take him some time, but as long as he is careful learning he should do fine. Yamaha is reliable just like any other company as long as you take care of the bike and maintain it well.

Let him get what he wants. If it is too much for him he will learn and respect it. If he crashes and gets hurt he will learn to respect it. His money let him do what he wants with it. He can always sell it if he don't like it. It just might make him a better rider, if it is alot more then he has ever handled before. Either way it will be a learning experience
