its easy to watch and say he should have did this and that, but when something like that happens, its so fast you dont have much time to think.

when you first see the cow, its too far right for him to take the right side of the road, so he tries to creep left. even if he slammed the brakes he still would have hit it

cows are tough as nails.. I use a rhino 700 to round up cows at the farm and I've rammed one so hard that it broke the aftermarket bumper on the rhino....the cow just walked away like nothing happened.... it was tasty the next week also

It was stagged...the cow was totally in on it ;)

He might have had time to move if had acted quickly but there is also a thing called object assfixiation that causes you to drive or ride right at what you are looking at. I learned this from other bike riders when I started riding in groups, they said not to stare at the rock or crack in the road or you will be drawn right to it. Sorta the same premise as following the car in front of you as he goes off the shoulder a bit.

Looks to me when you first see the cow, it is on the far right side of the road. My guess is as the quad got closer, the cow was spooked and started to run, just so happens to be he ran where the guy on the quad was heading. You can say he could have avoided it, but at the speed the guy is running, it is hard to avoid anything. Plus, he is on a Honda 700XX setup for Rally racing, I bet that quad is around 600+ pounds, not the most agile thing.

I was at a desert race a few years ago and there was a couple of cows on the course. I slowed way down for that very reason, I didn't want to end up like this guy!

My guess is it is mounted on his chest. I run my GoPro in the same place, I feel it gives a better perspective of the terrain. Of course, I don't have all the equipment on my bars..
