I am debating selling my spare motor. I do need to repair a few things on it but not sure how much it's worth. I see rebuilt stock motors going for $1500+ on ebay? Its a Fischer 416, sparks cam, hardened rockers, ported and polished ect. GT thunder heavy duty cam chain. Was thinking of selling the stock carb with it to but will probably just hang on to that as I can't see it making a big difference in price. Looks like parts are quite cheap for these motors so repairing it and selling would be the best option.

Its worth whatever someones willing to pay.

That being said you could easily get 500+ for it Id think. Ive seen good 450r motors go for 1500.

Yeah I just dont want to put $200 into fixing it and get $400. Might as well keep it for that amount of profit. Just thought I would get some real world opinions, I don't always trust ebay prices.

Main issue is its an engine not many want anymore. 400EX is still a great quad and many have them, but just looking at the classifieds here there are always more 450 parts.

Second and third gear are out in the bottom end, could be shift forks but my guess is the gears themselves. I bought it that way and rode it, once you start to put some load (about mid-range) on the gears they skip. The head needs a valve. I bought the quad with two motors, one that was in it with a bad second and third and then the other had a bent valve. I just took the good head and put it on the extra motor. The valve was bent just during assembly as the piston or rod wasn't hurt, someone just had the timing way off and turned the motor over by hand. You can just barely see light through the edge on one valve.

around here people get early 400ex's for $500-$1000 with pipe, nerfs and bumper. imo it would be hard to sell that motor when you can get a used 400ex for that much.
