)Ok,

Finally my 400 is back togather... Now the clutch cable is running between the 2 parts of the header (or inbetween the 2 headers... :ermm: )

The cable is really taking a beating, It has melted and is currently deformed.. I've noticed a strong burning smell, and i think this is it, although there could be more :scary: )

How can i re-do this to stop the burning?

Use some header wrap and two hose clamps and do this. Mine isn't touching the header but even if it does it don't burn the cable.

I dont remember exactly which model, i think they say buy a 250X clutch cable and route it down the frame and directly to the right case cover.

Feel free to correct me if i am wrong about it being a 250X.

You missing the holder that goes on the motor mount-it keeps it away from the header.

You need the holder, trust me. It keeps it away from the header.

Either buy it for like 2 bucks or make one out of a coat hanger.

I just got a 92 250x clutch cable, works great just zip tie it to the side of the frame. I can get a picture of it if you like.

So is that a stock cable and do you have that holder at the bottom right corner of my pic?

i just put a new full hmf comp series on mine this weekend. with the stock header i had no problem with clearance but you definitely need that little holder thats in the pic. with the hmf header the pipes were much closer together and i had to reroute the cable behind the pipes instead of between.

When i put on my Big Gun full exhaust i had to bend the little holder thing a tad. That piece is definately needed!

i don't think my cable is origanal, and no, i don't have the holer. Guess i'll go out and rig something up rather than wait 2 weeks for a $2 coat hanger.

Also i got some of this 3M metal tape for the plastic right near the pipe, melting a little so i may slap some on.

Might try to put some of that around the cable to, dont have header wrap

If your cable is the stock length then just get that bracket and you'll be good. If it still touches the headers then wrap it like i said before.

That is an awesome exhaust man!! how do you like it? I have the same exhaust, just wrap it like i said and make sure you've got the bracket.

I love this exhaust. Best money i ever spent. Went on super easy all i had to do was bend my cable holder a bit and i moved the cable behind the headers instead of between so it has lots of room.[

What baffle size are you running? I think HMF really hit the nail on the head with that exhaust..

im running a 155 main 42 pilot with the stage 2 baffle. i found the stage 3 baffle to be a little bit too loud for me especially since i ride on public trails quite a bit. id be fined in a heartbeat with the stage 3.

Thats the good thing about that exhaust with the different baffle sizes. btw If your running with air box lid on that should be good jetting but that seems alittle lean if you don't have your lid on.

thats ok, i put some of that metal tape around it, and lowered the cable a little with part of a coat hanger, seems to be working just fine.
