I was thinking about buying a pair of really cheap stock shocks off of another quad to lower/widen my front end for flat track and TT racing. I've heard blaster shocks might fit. What about 300ex? And what to do for the rear?

300ex would bolt in, could try some 400ex stockers that are on the lowest pre-load setting, that might not be low enough for you though.

a 300ex shock would be soft but would work, you could try a 250ex shock also, im sure both can be had pretty cheap.

Currently running stockers on lowest setting. And trying to avoid lowering kits

300ex or 250ex shocks would lower it then, by how much, im not sure though. i dont have any measurements from them

I think 300ex shocks would lower it down to much cause they are really short. blaster or banshee shocks work almost perfect for the right ride height where the a-arms are almost level. heres some pics of a 250r I had and was setting it up for barrel and pole racing at a local atv rodeo I used banshee front shocks (had to grind the top of the shocks to make em fit) and I made a longer dogbone link to lower the rear down.

Can you no link the rear or will that raise it? I got a line on a full set of brand new blaster shocks for $100 or he said make offer for just fronts, was thinking about offering 60. Great graphics btw

me and bornconfused swapped out my 400ex shocks on put 300ex shocks on it.

There is a thread somewhere in the open forums with pics of how it looks.

They sit so low, if i stood on my front bumper it bottomed the frame out completely onto the ground, and my a arms were pointing up not down.

EDIT: They were on +2 arms though.

They do have preload, and i just remembered those were also on +2 arms so that is a big factor also.

300ex front shocks will probably work with stock width and preload on its highest setting.

I highly recommend against buying a set of shocks off another bike for TT. They will not work right and you will be trying to bandaid other problems. There isn't much travel on a TT bike anyways and you need to take full advantage of every bit of travel you can have with the correct shocks to begin with. Just trying to save you money in the long run

Ive heard the best shocks for a 400ex in flat track tt racing are cbr600rr rear for the front and a r6 or r1 rear shock for the rear.

Actually those are warrior or blaster shocks, the spring is longer on banshee shocks. You dont want banshee shocks though they roll in turns more than warriors

ratchet straps are 14 bucks for a pack of four and you can keep your stock suspension. just crank em down till you are bottomed out and wala instant lowering kit. :D worked in a pinch for ice racing not too sure about tt tho.
