Hey, I just finished a rebuild on my quad pretty much painted, new bearings, and a new full exhaust I originally had a slip on, I rejetted the carb from Dino jets to actual keinen 42 pilot and a 190 main, idles great starts right up but after about 1/4 throttle it bogs down and stutters but I can sometimes get it to open up and it flyswatter, any ideas why its stuttering?? I was told on her to try about a 180 to 200 main jet, I'm from north east pa if that helps at all, about 700-800 feet about sea level I believe, could jets be too big or small??

put a 142 dyno jet size in there and you will be good to go, needle on the 3rd clip position also and the f/a screw around 2.5 turns out.

the dj's are numbered differently than keihin ones.

what clip is your needle on?how may turns out on your a/f screw?what air filter are you using?where exactly are you located? im in nepa and am at about 1400 feet.

I have a wiseco 12.5:1 440, stage 2 hotcam, full white bros exhausted, k&n air filter and I run 93 gas, about a year ago when i originally rejetted and did the motor work the clip was put on 3 position and 2.5 turns on a/f screw just like dynojets instructs, I just switched main jet to 190 OEM keinen and 42 pilot but did not check screw to readjust, probably should have, I'm at Scranton pa which is about 770 ft above sea level Google says, and and 1/4 throttle rides fine and so does 3/4 to full ish...it's they area right about 1/4 to Halfish that stutters...would this be the needle??? Maybe change the clip up or down a notch??

well then if it has a 440 in it and not just a full exhaust you will have to compensate for that.

next question is why are you switching now?

go to the conversion chart and check and see what it is for a 190 keihin equivalent. its a 170 but im still at a loss as to why you switched to dj jets with your 440. the djs blow when running bigger stuff, esp with anything more than a filter and exhaust on it.

a 190 dj is 215 keihin

raise your needle to lean it out in the mid, lower to richen it up.

I posted previously about a week ago about jetting and what sizes to go to so that's why I didn't repost my specs again thinking maybe the same. People will see and remember but anyhow, I originally had dynojets for the past year from when i originally rebuilt the quad, now I just had it strip down and painted and stuff so i figured I would reject correctly to actual keinen jets Caz everyone says the dynojets suck which I didn't know at the time, it ran OK with the dynojets but when going up steep hills or trying.a wheelie it would cut out and stutter like it is now but that was only like I said up a hill or wheelie, so i rejected with OEM jets like ppl on her told me with the sizes they suggested with my specs, I just got it back together a few hours ago and have been riding it around my block a few times and it stutters from about 1/4 to 1/2 ish throttle but after that it rides great, I think I've read somewhere that about 1/2 throttle is the needle and up to full is the main jet, is that correct?? And ya I have referred to that chart but just got kienen jets instead of playing with the dynojets...

If it is the needle, I am thinking that the reason it is stuttering like that is because its too rich?? Would that be correct and i should try moving the clip one position to lean it out??

although those were 2 long long long sentences, ill see what i can do with them...

put a 182 keihin in there

drop the needle to the 2nd notch

turn your f/a in a bit 1/2 turn, if it pops a bit go out a 1/4

run er

And one more thing, when i had the dynojets I was using the dj190 which like you said is equivalent to a 215 according to that chart..

Lol ya typing on a touch screen phone that auto corrects to words you don't want is kinda tough And I just changed the plug when reassembled the quad and it was black and smelt like gas a little. Ill ride it tomorrow and check it after and see what its like, thanks
