Exactly my thoughts,

I told Steve, i bet you could buy a chunk of gold for what they are asking for them.

they've been out for a while but I've never heard of or seen a bike with one yet

it's a drag axle.. like the JJ&A aluminum ones.

Rath made one for his unstudded quad. Took of a ton of rotating weight. He thought it might work for TT racing.

while i'm not disagreeing with you they say it's the strongest axle ever made. if that's not bs, which it may bee, it could be used for mx too.

from what i read carbon fiber is 5x stronger than steel.

Its probably like hiper wheels, strong yes but once it reaches that point just shatters

strong yes, tough no.. CF is so strong that its brittle.. can't plastically deform like steel. MX would crumble it.

EDIT: i see beastlywarrior is on the same thought path as i am ha.

kinda like ceramic. while it's strong, when you take it to "the point" it fails dramatically unlike steel which has some give.

you got it.

carbon fibre is very strong in tension. Useless in compression. you can crush and shatter it but is very hard to pull apart.

thats a drag axle for going in strait lines and save weight...

What you linked is a drag axle...They have no use in mx...Cannondale on the mx440 used to use a carbon axle if I remember correctly...Needless to say there were a lot of broken ones. Can-am's have a hallow axle I think that's the best way to save weight.

That's what I was going to comment on. Cannondale was in the process of designing a carbon axle for mx just before they went under. I do not believe they ever actually raced them though. Its thinking outside the box, but I do not see it working. Dirt bikes have experimented with this and carbon does not hold up to well on parts like this. I'll stick with my lonestar.

junk...back when my cousin was still racing there was a guy trying to get them out there and create a demand and he was sending them to us for free. if you hit any kind of hard bump or a jump on those they snap like toothpicks.

Maybe you should ride a real Polaris before you knock them. Until you ride a Polaris race bike, just stop, you are making yourself look foolish.

haha not at all, I'm just sick of seeing you continuously bash a Polaris. I just came off a Can-am and I can honestly say that this Polaris Outlaw is a good bike. It is just as fast as any bike out there, it handles pretty damn good too.

I really don't have anything against them... I just do it to bug TheLane. its a little pissing match we have going.... but just incase Laney reads this...polaris does suck:devil:
