I have a 1986 trx250r it has a stroker crank and bored out other than that stock it runs great but when I went to fire it up it started right up then died put new plug in it nothing checked for spark nothen was told it was the stator pulled covet off it was full of gas should be dry in that side of the case what could make it fill up with gas dont want to put a new stator in it till I fix the gas problem

Maybe its a crank seal on the left side.

Agreed. If it is wet around the seal that is your issue.

ya i would try the seal. that is the only way gas can get in there. it should be easy to fix the seal on that side if you got the flywheel and stator off already. i would let that stator dry out and try it before your buy a new one its probably still good

It's conceivable, but less common that the left main bearing is shot, allowing the crank journal to turn nonconcentric in the seal. This would indicate large looming problems with the top end as well, but something to consider if you haven't spec'd the bearings and crank in a while.

had the same problem 2-3 years ago in cr 250- it ended bein the left seal- replaced it and no leaking.

its the seal and possibly the bearing as well....
