My dad has an 06 LTR 450 and when you are in first gear pinned and then let off the throttle it almost throws me over the bars due to the exhaust pressure. When you are running it in second, third, fourth or fifth wide open and then stop real quick the engine will stall and does not like to start back up. We adjusted the valves and they seem to be in spec with the manual. Don't know where to go from here. Is this normal? He has a cherry bomb, stock pipe with baffle removed and a pro design air kit. Still running the airbox lid.

I think what you are talking about is engine braking.....

Wasn't aware that 450s were setup with engine braking. I know utility machines have it from the factory, but I talked with some 450 guys and they think it is strange what it is doing.

Engine braking happens on all 4 strokes without a slipper clutch its the vacuum in the cylinder slowing the piston down

Arent you suppose to run no lid with the cherry bomb?

My dad runs the airbox lid and it seems fine. Do you think that might be his issue?

When he takes off the lid he'll have to hold on to the handlebars a lil stronger....plus it's running rich with the lid on.
