I was wondering if anyone out there makes a arms that are stock width with replaceable ball joints. Everything i find on google is extended which i dont want because most of my riding is tight trails.

Cut off the ball joints on the arms and do this: http://www.trx450r.org/forum/94-suspension-chassis-drivetrain/194807-stock-arm-camber-mod-how-made-easy-pics.html

Would allow better handling up front since its wider.

Wide front handles better, the front is way less tippy when doing very hard turns. Since the rear is more narrow than front, it follows quite well.

Wide rear wit narrow front tends to push in the corners-much harder to control.

Im in the same shoes as you are, +2 arms are cheap and plentiful by many makers it seems-but +1s are hard to find and much more $ in some cases. Difference is +2 is 4" total, +1 is only 2" and in my case a +2 setup would mean I would smash into trees all day long in the trails.

If i'm not mistaken the rear on a stock ex is around 45 and the front is around 43 So if you went with +1 arms they would be the same wideth as the rear. That would have better handling and still wouldn't be much if any at all wider then the rear end.

I love my +1s. It handles ALOT better than it did with the stock arms and it still feels skinny in trails. Mine also have the camber/caster adjustment though, so I don't know if that has any huge affect.
