i always wondered about this. can you put the throttle body and electronics of say aaaaa 2010 crf450r and put it on a trx250r? with some calibration by someone who knows what they are doing.

in theory would that work?

There are already fuel injected 2 strokes. Bombadier/Can Am have been building them for years. Some outboard motors, and I would guess some snowmobiles. They are supposed to be very clean running and efficient.

I would love to have a modern FI 2 stroke atv.

As far as the CRF throttle body on the 250R. I'm no expert, but I would think it would be too big for a stock sized 250R. Maybe for a big bore. Again, I have no idea if that's true, just speculating. Also, I don't know if the injector would spray pre-mix or if you'd need an oil injection system like the FI outboard motors have. Also, have to figure out how to power it.

Anything can work with enough time and money LOL. The technology is already there, the manufacturers just need to use it.

i just picked a crf450f because a 2 stroke requires more fuel than a 4 stroke and thought a 450 throttle body would provide it.

i mean it seems easy enough. i'm just suprised we don't have people doing the conversions. maby because efi is still new to mx and 2strokes are a thing of the past.

btw i know about boat motors, rotax...mainly talking about the big 4.

You may be correct on the sizing. I have no idea. Someone smarter than me would have to run the numbers LOL

Snowmobiles have fi...... I'm sure you could retrofit something maybe.......just remove the other throttlebody....

Pretty much all sleds are SDI or EFI now, so it's possible to have a fuel injected two stroke in general, I would also say that would be too big, but if you fiddled around then you could probably make it work.

i would think next to mapping the hardest thing would be fitting the alternator on it if it wouldn't directly fit on it. it may but idk.

This was posted in the 250r section a few months back.

i bought my 250r from randy, the kid in the vid posted above.

it is definitely an insane setup, talk about power. :)

he used half of a throttle body from a sled and a micro squirt to control it, added an O2 sensor in the pipe and such too.

he started working full time now since he graduated so he hasnt finished tuning it but plans to in the near future.

it can def be done :D

Wow thats freakin awesome steve its crazy that you know the dude! Ive been curious if he ever finished it or not, it seemed to run good in the video and I know he said he still had some tuning to do around idle or something...

i think that's the same guy in the video. if a group of collage tech students can't get it running 100% what chance does a average joe have haha.

sounded easy enough but i guess not.

About a year or so ago i read about a FI banshee. I can't remember if it was in dirtwheels or what, but it looked awesome.
