I have not been on here in quite some time, butneed some help. I rebuilt a 2000 400EX a few years back. the engine was rebuilt with a .020 over 11.1 piston and a stage 2 hot cam, It is having difficulty starting..Battery seems to be good but after charging it starts ok but after riding for a while it barely turns over? Charging is in spec ect? Bad battery or starter?? suggestions. It carngs but stups and slowly gets past the compression stroke then repeats.

Sounds like a bad battery. Does it jump start good?

Did the battery come with acid in it, or did it come "pre-charged" or whatever, because if it didn't and you hadn't done either of those I don't think your battery would last long. But it might not have worked at all idk. But it sure sounds like the battery is junk either way.

Possible ground problem or a bad cell is my guess. Also if the battery sits for a long period of time it could have gone bad.
