Hey guys, I was doing a little bit of maintainance tonight to the old four hundy, looked at the rear brake pad knowing it wasn't exactly new, and holy god it's only about 1/8" thick and it's pushed out the side scraping metal everywhere!! The front ones should be replaced soon too, so I was wondering what you guys reccomend for pads, not looking to spend crazy money but not cheaping out either. Also if there's a good thread on changing them with pictures that would be nice, it's been around a year since I've replaced em and I don't really remember how. Thanks guys!

OE Honda brake pads are the best. I've tried several different brands, Honda hands down.

EBC severe duty last me the longest. Im still on the same set of fronts for like 2 years now and I ride ALOT. Back wore out faster, not sure why other than perhaps it was dragging, not sure really.

However for the money I bought a set for the back on ebay from seller forward power sports for 10 bucks. I hardly use the back so I couldnt justify spending 30/pair.

Yeah I was going to go with EBC, it was either that, DP, which I've never heard of so didn't think they would be amazing, or "high quality OEM replacements" so some peice of crap made in china thing. I need to make sure the rear ones last, I'm always locking up the rear in the bush slidin around real tight corners and stuff so.

But do they perform as well as EBC?

I normally run EBC. But Rocky Mountain ATV has some on closeout for 9.25 a pair. I bought 12 pair just for the price. Free shipping over 100.00 dollars.

I run ebc severe duty also, the sintered metal on the back and they work great lock up easy and they have lasted me twice as long as my oem pads did.

I need new pads to cuz the stock ones are down to steel haha. I need a new rotor on the rear to cuz its bent. So the ebc severe duty are good stopping and will last in mud and water?

I ordered the DP's, hopefully they hold up good, my buddies breaks on his 400ex are also done so he's going to order EBC and see who's hold up best.

Yea that's all I usually ride in, sand, mud, and water tore up my oem pads in like 6-8 months, and I've had the ebc pads now well over a year. I haven't had a problem with them at all

The guy said when I ordered them "now do you know if they come in different duties?" and I told him I wasn't sure but just get the heaviest duty if they do so.
