I don't strap mine down. The tires nearly touch the tailgate and the wider stance doesn't leave much room for it to move around. Rides great like this, have never had a problem.

We dont haul near as big as we used to...alot of our group gave up riding when they brought women into their life for some reason lol. Biggest group we can get together anymore is about 5...The first picture shows how we used to get to the MX tracks (yes thats me in the corner releasing my monster out of the ramp door)

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t207/aerospac/pn.jpg

This was how we travel to our yearly hatfield McCoy trip....7 quads and a bike...the bike and 6 quads up on the flat and a quad on the dovetail......Thankfully this trip is usually still this big or bigger every year.

I think it was 2 bikes, Cause i remember everyquad in there was standing on its grab bar, we had one bike on the wall and Walsh's bike was in the isle between the seats haha......With a screaming detroit that had a top speed of 50MPH down mount everest we had plenty of time to tell our stories of what all we encountered the night before.......Those were definitely the days, back when I could ride my best hungover haha

This is what I had when I had my quads. A triton ATV 88 side or rear load trailer. All aluminum with built in ramp. This baby pulled like a dream.. Really light and you could haul 1 or 2 quads or 3 dirtbikes if you set it up that way.

Buddy of mine has a similar trailer, I love it for road hauls b/c it pulls so nicely. However if you want to park int he woods with 8+ ft width becomes a problem.

That reminds me,
heres something we use when we feel like showing off.. :D Not really... but it's so shiney. Can't haul much were afraid the transmissions going. The last attempt to pull a ranger out of a mudhole didnt help much either. ;)

Sweet setup, would you care to share any inside pics, of both the finished area and the cargo?

My new 14ft v-nose. Work in progress but its coming along. The old safari van died so im looking for a truck. Any ideas on what could pull this and get good mpg?

TacicalRedneck
04-28-2012, 02:06 PM
The best thing to haul out there is a diesel... May be a bit of an overkill for you though. My 12 v cummins is capable of getting high 20's highway...

Most 24 valve cummins get 16-21.

Higher btus in diesel, more energy per gallon...

Say, a 5.9 (360) diesel gets ↑, a 5.9 (360) gas in the same truck gets 8-13
(est)

In the long run the gasser probably will be cheaper, but with any gas truck i'd say your looking at the 14 mpg mark.

My 2 cents.

How I haul with my old Ford, my 400 and my woman's Griz pictured here.

And this is how we do it if we take the Toyota, either Banshee or 400 goes in the bed, and the Griz gets trailered.
