For the life of me I can not raise the retaining ring on the rear shock to lower the rear of the quad. I tried using a flat head screwdriver and a mallet to move it with no luck. What am i doing wrong?

Some of them get just flat stuck.

WHat i usually end up doing to them, is taking the shock off, putting it in a vise and soaking it in PB blaster for about 4 hours, then with some big channel locks it will usually break loose.

Good luck!

WARNING: I have smashed my fingers countless times while using channel locks to do that.. lol It HURTS!.... BAD!

^^ 2X I take mine off when i adjust it but remember if you put the bottom of the shock in the vice the rest of the shock can turn so it doesn't work to well.

I just used a punch and a hammer, it broke loose fairly easily. I did have it up on a stand so it took the weight off the spring and it wasn't pushing against the lock nut though.

I was able to get it last night after soaking in wd-40 and using a ballpeen hammer instead of the rubber mallet. Quad is now lowered all the way on a set of Hoosier flat track tires for my race today
