It kinda looks like crf motor mount set up but I could be wrong, and it also kinda looks like a stock frame and someone tried put pro peg mounts on it.

Probably because that's the unpainted steel that the fabricator welded in.

No paint = rusty steel

yea thats what i figured stock 400ex modified all over. still don't know 100% what its modified for. crf motor is what people are telling me. possibly cr500 link. if you know anyone on here that knows dimensions of motor mounts shock mounts etc. i'll measure mine and compare. and the subframe yea its is nice and in awsome shape. still can't believe it being so nice someone hacked out the right side support brace to fit a pipe through.

That frame has suffered an engine fire at some point. I would be real leery of using it. The quality of steel in those frames isn't the highest and the heat from the fire probably annealed it, changing it's physical properties. It' may be prone to bending or cracking.

i dont think it really suffered an engine fire? its a stock 400ex frame that someone modified to fit a cf450 motor.

Well, before the 450s, you had the 400s and 250r. This guy copied a lager setup 250r for his Trx 400. He used the cr 500 link and a 250 r subframe. Better suspension and lighter with ease of acess. Could be nice if someone wanted a throwback project!

LOL there was no fire dude, it's called welding.
