Is anyone trying to win the biggest lottery in US history? Over 500 million in the pot as of today!
I know I stand a better chance of being hit by lightning but if you think about it, several hundred people get struck every year!
How many quads would you buy with 500 million dollars?
Cash payout would be around 380 million, of course then you will pay 40% in taxes.
That leaves you with around 240 million.

i'd buy a couple quads, a small house on some land, brand new 2012 6spd cummins, put it in the bank and watch it grow:p

Just bought 5 sets of numbers on one ticket for cash value.

I win Im buying a new truck, a fast car, a house/property with a large garage and of course more quads.

while it is extremely easy to get discouraged just remember, someone has got to win it.

If I was a single winner at my age I could spend an average of 6 million a year and still have some left over. That’s not counting any interest I would make.
My immediate family members would become millionaires as well.
I would give some to a few charities but I would rather help a few people as I meat them and see that they have a need. Like kids that need medical help, that kind of thing. Maybe help some vets along the way.

I don’t think I would buy a big house, just an average place, kinda low profile.

Some say there is a lottery curse, I saw a program where they did an update on past winners and quite a few were broke and some had family members that died and most of them had some sort of trouble after they won.

With that much money, you would have to spend quite a bit of time managing it.
Boy what a hard life that would be!

the jackpot went up from 363 million from tuesday to 540 million. if no one wins on friday, its gonna climb to like 800 million. this is getting crazy. got my $101 worth. not like its gonna ever happen. doesn't hurt to try though.

I feel people going crazy with their money and investing in anything and everything is the problem.

I remember seeing one of those lottery shows and the guy seriously needed the money. House was gonna foreclose, he needed back surgery bad, gf lost her job. So he wins and he splurged like crazy. 10k/pc china, mammoth tusks, life size statue of the blues bros?

People let the money go to their heads to easy. Id spend probably maybe 10-20 mil on stuff I want and be smart with the rest. Its easy to let things get out of hand.

The only problem is no regular bank will take that money. They are only insured for 250K. Do you know how many account you would need for all that money. Not sure what kind of bank you would have to use though.

I bought 6 dollars worth, no sence on going crazy trying to win. All it takes is one ticket.
Gotta play to win!

I tell myself i would be smart about it...but whose to say i would stick with that, 380 million dollars is enough to make anybody crazy in ways. I would plan to stay smart, Build a nice house for this area which aint much about a 1500 sq ft house is big timin around here. Build me something that could make me money. A powersports dealership or something and progress into having a race team, start scouting the nationals both bikes and quads and take talented riders under my wing lol...My family and closest friends wouldnt hurt for anything but they wouldnt be spoiled. I would retire my family and put my friends to work on the easy 10am-5pm jobs around the shop lol. If i won it individually i would take it in yearly stallments. That way if i went stupid one year and spent everything within the first month all i have to do is survive 11 more months until my next big payday haha

That would be a mistake. If the lottery pool went broke then you would lose what ever money you didn’t collect. If you took it in yearly payments and spent your allotment for the year, any bank would gladly loan you some money. So you could spend even more in finance fees.
And if you take it in payments and 20 years from now our “great leaders” decide you must pay 50-60-70% percent in taxes on your winnings.
If you die and you are taking yearly payments you must have your children or whom ever you want to have the money, too sign the back of the ticket before you cash it in or they will lose it when you die.

I would want it all at once, I know that sounds stupid, but i would put it in the bank, work until i am about 30 or so (prolly just part time job at a motosports store, just for fun.) And Live off the interest for the rest.

I would pay off everything all of my close family had.

Alot of people say "I would buy about 500+ acres and build everyone in my family houses on it.."

Well i wouldnt do that just for the fact that none of my family can get along. lol

But i would make sure all my family/close friends would never have to worry.

And then the racing side of things... :) There wouldnt be any GNCC XC1 Motosport.com holeshot award. It would be the Cody Crichfield/KFC Racing $250 holeshot award! haha.

I would also Donate some to atvriders.com, GNCC, Parks Motorsports... etc. Give back to all the great racing names and such that do so much to help out all the local racers and what not.

Adam McGill wouldnt be worrying about funds to race either.

Oh man... Soo many things that i would do.

i'd buy trutv and have the network shut down, big donation to pornhub, have my good friend live with me so when go riding or on a drunken roadie i can ask him quicker, butt load of money to aspca and wounded warriors, BUY GEORGE ZIMMERMAN the best lawers money can buy, donate to the NRA, have lindsay lohan assassinated, get a pretty big fleet of 1,500-2000hp 12v cummins, a warehouse full of esr leager and walsh trx250r's, weiner enhancement surgery, have people finned when they mention "civic" and "power" in the same sentence, have the chepell show put back on, put up more walls between us and mexico, buy some double bubble bubble gum...cotton candy flavour, go to dentist after eating sugary double bubble bubble gum...cotton candy flavour, invest, have triple canopy security personel surround me 24/7, make sure the tv show THE WALKING DEAD never NEVER!! stops.

i would just like eat soo much pizza, bdub wings and bacon that in idk 5? years i become so morbidly obese that my body shuts down and dies.

derekhonda
03-30-2012, 07:35 AM
You'd definately need that weiner enhancement surgery if you want to get that big, so you won't pee all over the backside of your belly if nothing else. Hahaha

As for everything else, There's a lot of misinformation here as usual. No, if you take the yearly installments, and die, it becomes a part of your estate and can be left to family and friends. It doesn't go away.
Straight from the lottery website, for every million in the jackpot the yearly pay out it $38,500. @ 540 Miliion, that would be 20,000,000 Each year for the next 26 years. I'd go that route.

Also, the horror stories you hear from past winners, is usually true. If you live paycheck to paycheck and never save money and buy frivolous things, you're only gonna get worse winning the lottery. It'll just be on a bigger scale instead of blowing $100 at a bar on payday, you'll be blowing ten's of thousand on something dumber.

Well, if any of you win, I'd be happy to manage the money...for a small fee of course!

Great point, there is a huge glitch in the lottery tax laws that require benificieries to pay tax on the entire amount even if they are still collecting 20 years worth of anuities. total BS. Many people have defaulted over this and I honestly thought they changed or were changing this tax law.

Any way what I would do:
split the money in half
keep 50% split the other 50% in half
25% goes to my family and friends
25% goes to wife's family and friends
(my brother and sisters would walk away with over 10 million after taxes and first cousins 1.5 to 2 mil)
my half invest 1/3rd ,spend 1/3rd and save 1/3rd.
Invest in NJ's only off road ATV park similar to Busco but bigger and backing up to a body of water so I could have a marina/ restaurant. Quads/ boats/ jet skis you name it.

I would hire many of you local guys and give you your dream job,
Then spend:
Line up a Utah trip inviting 30 of my friends IRL and from here all expeneses paid...so now I know you are all rooting for me to win.

gl everyone and dont stand under any trees tonight during if you should have thunder storms.

The cash payouts the best due to the taxes incurred should something happen to you.

But you gotta be wise with your money, splurging is ok for a few things but going crazy is where the trouble starts. Like for instance: Do I really need a lambo..not really, would I like to say I owned one or have one..sure, but its not needed. Now a nice Lexus or g35 or something works tho.

I know we all say we wouldn't splurge .... but if you think about it the price of a lambo when you have over 300 million dollars , it's like buying a Ford Focus on a 100 000$ income ... it's a drop in the bucket.

$100 000 is only 1/10th of a $ 1 000 000 ..... now multiple that by 350. A Lambo and a Ferrari would be in the works for me.

so even if you ended up with the straight cash after taxes, $240,xxx,xxx.xx....im pretty sure buying one lambo is not hat big of a deal...

same herre....and a brand new, fresh off the show room floor super air natique or brand new mastercraft wake boat ($100k+)...and a house on lake Norman, and a house in Breckenridge, and i would actually probably buy that ski resort north west of of Whistler Black-comb...i cant remember what its called but i saw an episode of solomon free ski tv....they needed $2 mill to keep it running for a good long while, and the town around it was tryign to buy it

Haha well with that much money I would build a 2-3 million dollar house on about 100+ acres of property. Then I would build the sickest motocross track you have ever seen. After that, it would be all about the toys; quads, dirtbikes, side by sides, you name it. When I was done having fun, I would invest the rest.

The odds are the same no mater how many tickets are sold. You’re playing numbers not the amount of people with tickets. Your odds do get better if you buy more then one ticket.
