I was just wondering if powdercoating the hubs and things like that will weaken them when you bake the powder on.

Parts look great. keep it up
I've been so busy latly that it's been a while since I've posted any PC pics.
Been doing more automotive and antique parts than ATV, but that will all change once winter gets here.

Just about every part on the engine, from valve covers and intakes to the engine block. Bumbers, nerf bars, and bed rails. even hoods, fenders and trunk lids. Some time with in the next year (hopfuly) I will be PCing a complete 73 VW bettle from frame up, including the whole body.

i got a question for all you pcer's, what does it take to do some basic PCing??? will i have to spend a bundle of cash, or can i do a cheap way but still get the same results?? what kind of pait or powder do i use, like were can i buy it??? and same with the gun?? how hot does the oven usually get inorder for it to work right??

thanks
BTW, if it is a long list and what not, just pm it to me...

TeamC&GRacer
07-16-2003, 02:42 PM
for just starting otu it is rather cheap, you just need the right stuff. www.columbiacoatings.com sells everything you need to get you started.. i suggest a package deal...gun, cups, paint, hooks, tape, plugs, ect... You will also need somekind of sprayign booth wether it be a homemade one of a cardboard box.. you also need respirators because of the fumes created. You will need some sorta of sand blasting unit and wire wheel to get the old paint off and make a nice bare metal surface before u apply the paint. You can just sand the prt down and spray over it but for the best results i recommend bare metal. On top of that you will need an oven, do not use the one u cool in. To get started you will be lookign to spend around 500.. any other questions let me know.. hope i helped ya!

#2 A PC gun $85 and up
#3 powder $9 and up for a 1/2 pound
#4 Air compressor $200 and up, could be way up there
#5 A method for preping the parts, paint stripper + sand blaster
#6 A sealed area to shoot the parts in
#7 a really good resperator
#8 wire for hanging parts

when you say a standered kitchen oven, you mean a regular oven that you cook your food in??? the whole unit or just the part that creates the heat ?? does it matter if it is eletrical or gas??

i have an air compressor, and sand blaster... the powder and pc gun, am i able to find them at a local hard ware store, i really don't want to get something from across the boarder, becuase a PC gun, you think they will let it cross??? no i didn't think so...

also i have seen someone do a homemade oven out of bricks, does that work to??? becuase we are the process of building a new shop so i wll probably have some bricks and what not left over...

also can someone post a pic of their pcing corner/work place...
thanks

400exBro- Here is a pic of my "pc corner" The booth type thing is my spray booth and underneath that is a cabinet. In the cabinet I have my pc gun and powder and some cleaners. On the right is the oven that I cook the parts in. I got the oven off of Ebay and it is an electric oven that was used in a resturant, it gets the job done though:blah: Above the oven are hooks that I use to hang parts that are cooling.

CHAUNCY
07-17-2003, 11:35 AM
Here is a better picture of where the parts cool. The parts that are hanging are already cooled but I just left them up there:o There are also hooks hanging from the bottom enges of the spray booth that I use to hang parts that are cooling.

Columbia coatings are great people to deal with, and if you become an Eastwood member than shipping is free.

danney f

And if you order a ton of powder like a do, that free shipping saves you lot of money.:D
