My wife has them on her 250ex and she loves them. For her application they are great.

They are worth the money, I race TT with them. They are way better than re-worked 450r shocks, Everything that elka makes is always top notch.

I have rode the PEP ZPS big bottle 8 click shocks, And beleive it or not they feel the same as the elka stage 1

Not true just because they dont have a rezzy. It just means they hold less fluid so the shock fades faster during extreme riding

My opinion though, keep what you have and maybe ill see you at a couple races this year

If you are just freshening up you're GTT rebuilds, I'd do that. Or fully commit and go long travel if you want something better.. I think I'd rather bebuilt shocks over factory Elka.. Their shocks from the factory aren't that great.. (I have all Elka on my 250 and an lt Elka rear on my 450 so I'm not just hatin')

It's cheap just to bebuild the shock.. it's the respringing/revalving that makes up the majority of the cost..

They aren't rebound adjustable.. here is a quote from their site:

"While they are not optimized for competitive use, they can greatly improve your ATV’s performance and handling. You get the same performance and benefits of our racing shocks, only with less adjustability."

The GTT rebuilds have more adjustment capabilities..

Well not really.

You can make rebuilt 450R shocks just as good as fox floats if you wanna spend the cash to do it.

If i were you, i wouldnt get the stage 1 Elkas.

For $100 more you can get the non ressie Fox Floats and i hard they are really amazing and are super easy to tune in.

but its yours not mine.

Or used long travel Stage 3/4 Elka/Axis/PEP shocks.. another 300-400 for arms and you've got a LT setup..

I s'pose I'm biased as I just made the switch from ST to LT.. but the ST Revalves I had on my 450 worked really good.. Suspensian has to be setup correctly to work correctly..

Im not an elka fan. you can get the same performance out of reworked and resprung shocks and they usually cost you less in the long run.

They do have a bad rep straight from the factory, in which case the stock revalves could be better but they have to be setup correctly..

Their stage 3 and up shocks aren't too bad though. Especially once they are rebuilt by a third party they are pretty *****in'. Sucks you have to spend money on an aftermarket shock to achieve the best performance though.

If you're not willing to adjust the air pressure all of the time then a conventional spring shock is your best bet.

I think Fox are some of the best on the planet, but if you don't know how to use them to their full potential.....

I personally would rather springs.. but I've ridden a Fox equipped quad, and it's niice

I have personally only rode 1 quad with Fox's.

It rode so smooth it was crazy.

when i raced my buddies 450 with the fox fourplay set up i really didnt like how they handle
and plus they made the front end so light that on every jump i was doing a kiss of death

hmm, not sure why they'd do that.. The bike I rode was a my buddy's wife's 09 YFZ.. she's got to be 50-75 lbs lighter than me and they still soaked up everything, flew straight too.

I personally don't think I'd have the patience to adjust them everyday.. but I'm not a pro-am class rider either

I guess another downfall to Fox is they "say" ( i dont know how true this is) that if you buy a new set, you have to get them revalved after the first 5-6 hours of ride time.

I dont know why that is, but thats what i heard anyways.
Dont hold it against me if thats false tho.
