Hey guys I have a 2005 400ex with 12.5 440 kit, stage 2 hotcam, full sparks exhaust, k&n air filter lid on, I've had a dynojet kit on it for the past year and it idles fine and even runs great unless going up a steep hill or popping a wheelie then it tends to bog down and jerk.. I've figured its just jetted wrong currently have it stripped down to clean it up and basically go over the quad for the summer...my question is what jetting would you guys suggest, I live in northeast pa

No idle cuz everyone will tell you not to run anything except keihin jets.. Get a 42 pilot and between 170-190 main from www.jetsrus.com

I would suggest getting from 170-210 keihin or OEM equivalent in incriments of 5 from the link given above.

Im at sea level and my 440 needed between 195-210 for a stock carb and 210-220 for 450r carb.

Ya i have a stock carb, and I figured since I have the quad torn down might as well jet it correctly , it seems no one likes the dynojets so i better get a main and pilot from the link above

I just ordered a 42 pilot and a 185 and 190 main jet, I have the original needle as well to put back in, i only took a quick look last night but how come the dynojets needle has the clip that can be raised or lowered for a leaner or richer mixture but it looked like the stock needle is only one setting?? Or did I just see this wrong?

Stock needle on 05+ isnt adjustable. A carb rebuild kit has the parts or your local dealer might have them separate.

Also you need to run 100+ octane with your setup or you will ruin the engine b/c of pre-detonation.

Hey Steve I'm from NW Pa. The Pro X keihin jets from rockymtn work great to. same as keihin and like 2 something a piece. thats what im running. identical to keihin

I've just been running 93 for the past 2 years and it runs strong I know other ppl run higher but I don't have access to higher around me, the jottings just a bit off, it only acts up when going up a steep hill or a wheelie and when i do either of those it kinda bogs Down and the front end drops in a wheelie or the quad jerks around on a hill

Sounds like you got a bad float/needle also. That would explain the problems when going up a hill or such as the float shifts.

OK, well I have the needle that came with the dynojets kit in there now, so when my jets come in ill try the stock needle again and I have a second Carb from an 02' that is partially apart, ill check the float you think the float would be the same if i tried replacing it with that one?

Yep its the same.

Way to check float is to take it out and put it in a little bowl of gas. It floats its good, sinks its not. Could also just need to clean the carb, float and float needle a bit too.
