I have a 03 400ex an I'm putting a 10:1 416 piston in it. Well the guy that does my motor work says that I need to put a hot cam in it because if I leave the stock cam in it. It will run hotter because it isn't flowing good. If so how does it make it run hotter?

I call B.S. on that mechianic but i'll help him look for his mind cuz i'm prity some he lost it.
The guy building your engine is an idiot. The cam only has an effect how long the valves stay open and little effect on heat.
Putting in a hotcam would be wise regardless because it will allow the engine to take much advantage of the power you will have with the new piston.

Ok. Thank you. So I dont have to put cam in it right now? When I do put a cam in it, it will be a stage 1 hot cam.

maybe the mechanic thinks ur cam is shot?
You would be better served by a stage 2 hotcam. The bump in compression will easily give you plenty of torque so the lowend cam isnt needed.

Ok. Well I'm just gonna wait an order a cam. I'll decide what to get when I order it. I appreciate the help.

He also said it wasn't gonna run right without the hot cam.
