300ex problems

ok here goes..when i ride my 300 it sounds like its bustin out and then boggs down and wants to cut off..when i first crank it and try to give it gas it will cut off..when i let it warm up it still wants to bog down..sometimes when im ridin it when i push the throttle it wants to die..does anyone know what is goin on?? i can still ride it but its startin to get embarrissing any help will be appreciated

i dunno much, but it sounds like it skipped the timing.. im probably wrong tho.

check the to see if the choke is on a little

the choke is off, does the throttle need adjustment?? timing?? can anyone help me please??

yeah it is piped, k&n filter the rest of the motor is stock

when was the last time you adjusted your valves??

well i have had it about 6 months and havent done it so it aint no tellin how long its been

i would definitely check those valves since it's a 96 first, then i would check carbuerator, take it off and give it a good cleaning. THen if all of that doesn't work your timeing must be off for some reason but it really shouldn't.

is the K7N open sir box? does it have Dyno jet kit on it? There can be many things to check, your pilot your jetting or valves..We had to change BOTH the pilot (up two) and the jetting on mine,and was told NOT to go go open or remove all the way on the 300ex.Have you ever done stuff on a carb befreo? If not, can be a lil tricky dont go diving into it w/o having some guidence first if you havent... Call Hetricks they can tell you what to try if this doesnt help..

dont really know it just looks like a regular k&n..so what size jets and where is the best place to buy them?? i have a service manual will that be enough to change them myself? i really dont wanna take it to the dealer to have them do it for 69 dollars an hour, when i could do it myself..and i just wanna thank yall for your help please bear with me this is my first 4-wheeler

Jetting varies I would Def by a Dyno jet kit if you are going to jet.I strongly reccomend you have someone go with you and show you the proper way to jet.You ahould be able to at least get some info from Hetrocks or yor local dealer .Hericks does alot with the EX, and mostly the 300ex. Ask for Rich he is very helpful and Ill PM you on a few things too.;) Tina

Check your spark plug. Mine fouled the other day, it wouldnt start for a while and when it did it would backfire and then shut off. I took out my plug and put some sandpaper to it and then it started right up.
