So I have the fcr carb on my 2005 honda trx and for a couple of laps it stay on and then it just falls off from the engine. I thought it was the intake manifold boot but I replaced it and it keeps doing it. wondering if theres a longer boot I can get so the carb isn't pulling on it. Any help would be great

You have an adaptor mounted to the carb, correct? The stock 05 carb is quite a bit longer then a FCR. Without the adaptor, the boot is probably going to be stretched pretty tight, causing your problem.

If you have the adaptor, not sure what the problem is. Both my 450R's have FCR carbs with adaptors and no problems at all with the intake boot.

If its an FCR off an 06+ 450r then the top of the carb might be hitting the gas tank.

CRF FCRs wouldnt have this problem.

Not sure about the YFZ carbs, IIRC they hit also.

It is the one of the 06 and up hondas and i was thinking it was hitting the gas tank so i was thinking of a way to raise the tank up a couple of inches

The part that hits the tank is just the throttle cable housing, most people cut some off the top with a hacksaw to make it clear the tank.

Just make sure to close the area back up with some tape or what ever you feel like to keep dirt out of the cable area.

If he didn't have the adapter the intake boot wouldn't even come close to fitting.
Wouldn't be able to tighten the hose clamp at all.

And he said it was falling off the engine, even if the intake boot wasn't attached at all, if it was tightened good at the engine it wouldn't go anywhere.
That's what made me think something was pushing on it.

I shaved a bit off the top and put it back on and took it for a ride around but haven't been on a track with it yet. really wanna see it the gas tank was causing the problem

Probably is your tank. I run a newer model OS tank on my XC bike and still had to raise it a bit to get it to clear the carb.
