They all tick man, every single one of them.

Id star by upping the jet 2-3 sizes and see what happens.

Well this could be my fault I did not do the timming chain but that thing was tighter then a virgin on prom night could it be the tensioner

Could be. Take the tensioner off, take the little screw off and use a small flathead to wind the tensioner in, it doesnt immediate spring back with force its bad.

No, I highly doubt that could happen.

All 400EX's and XR400's tick, its the design of the rockers/valves. Dont worry about it.

Not true!!!! A new 400ex will not have a tick...... The 400ex his a tick if 1. It has a aftermarket cam 2. The cam chain is worn (very common) 3. The tentioner or giudes are worn 4. The valve lask is not correct 5. The compession release on the stock cam isn't working correctly .

Dude, my friend has 2 BRAND new ones. I mean he bought them off the dealers showroom floor. Guess what, they tick. Its the way the valve train is designed.

The ticking is more pronounced and noticeable if you have anything wrong with the valve train or a hotcam tho.

Not being a jerk, just informing you.

I love how everyone complains about the dick or thinks their engine is about to blow. The tick has never bothered me and it's just a signature 400ex thing
