So in my recent battle with solving electrical issues and shearing a woodruff key i found my self looking for a good way to torque down down my flywheel appropriately by my self. i tried doing the put the transmission in gear trick and steping on the rear brake but it still seemed to rotate my rear tires as i tightened the nut for my flywheel. (since my brakes are a wee bit squishy)
So as i was at my local tractor supply i saw this tool for loosening water filters on home filtration systems and said BINGO. So i grabbed this thing for 6 bucks and went home to give it a whirl.

its basically a rubber strap that wraps around on its self and tightens against the fly wheel as it is rotated.

its a good alternative to slamming it together with a impact gun and also allows you to do it with one person accurately with a torque wrench. im always looking for a new way to accomplish something!

While a strap wrench is decent, there is a tool specifically made for holding flywheels that works better. The front has long angled jaws for holding clutch hubs, the back has small pegs designed to fit into the holes on a flywheel and hold it steady, the entire thing is build like a pair of vice-grips.

I had to grind my pegs down a little smaller on the backside to fit a CR250 flywheel, but other than that little obstacle, it has worked fantastic.
