ok before i was running stock jetting, and my problem was it wouldnt start/idle unless the choke was on 10%, and it would bog when i hit 3rd gear. Now i was on stock jetting so i went out tonight and got a 158mj and a 40pj, and my problem is worste now it wont idle at any part of the choke on or off and u can see the exaust now... its white. I think maybe the fuel air mixture should be adjustade, but im not gunna go in and mess more chit up til i hear from someone who knows what there doin

Sounds like your jetting was rich to beegin with and then you richened it up more. How clean is your air filter?

Stock jetting should be fine, but it sounds like you were rich with it and then you richened it up more.

Is your airfilter plugged up?

If it ran better with the choke on it was a lean condition.

It would run without the choke right? You just needed it to get it started?

What color is the plug?

it wouldnt run without the choke so i richened it up... now it wont run at all... i tried leaning it out by taking the air lid off but that didnt do any good

Have you changed the plug recently?
If you did and still have problems....Go back to square one....
Put all jets and settings to stock
pilot 38...40 should bes fine
needle in the middle
148 main
fuel screw 2 1/2 turns out
lid on
clean the filter AND the carb innerds
Then see what happens.
If you didn't make any changes to the intake or exhaust systems you shouldn't need to change the jets.

You can change that plug without taking the platic off pretty easy really. I just use the tool that came with the quad and it works out real good. I have even gotten to where I don't have to take the front plastic off to do the valves. You just want to be careful putting the plug back in so you don't knock it out of gap any.

I use a Craftsman 18mm deep well 3/8 drive socket with the short extention. The only thing I take off is the spark plug boot.
 :ermm:

How much does that 18mm deep well cost?

It's just a regular socket. I got mine with a tool kit I bought about 15 years ago. I don't know what individual sockets cost, i'd guess about $3-$4.

I can't remember which way you need to go. Search around this section for bit, this has been discussed several times recently.

Stock jetting should work fine in 20 degree weather once you get it warmed up. The cold will make it harder to start then normal. But if you do have to rejet you will want to make it richer b/c the cold air is more dense.

Try 42 pilot, needle in the stock position, and a 150 main.
A lot of guys run a 42, i run a 40.

This bigger pilot will help starting it and a 150 main is only a little bit bigger than stock jetting.
