Ok.....I think that I have decided to go with this setup....Is it ok or should I change something.....Also will I have to run 100% race gas or can I run 50/50?

1)416 JE/11:1 Piston
2)400xr Cam

One of the dealers I was talking to has this same setup. He says that he runs pumped high octane (93 or 94) and does ok. When he races, he goes 50/50 with race gas. I don't know what octane of race gas though:huh

Where are you getting your set-up done at?

I will buy the stuff from Marcums ans probably do most of the work myself. Hope I get it right.

Hope all goes well with the 416 kit and 400xr cam. Let us know!! Did you confirm with anyone else about the need for race gas on a 11:1 piston?

Go Huskers!!!!!!:)

Hey Jhallet,
I am running the same setup (11:1 416ex). Mine will run on pump o.k. until it the motor is loaded down i.e., climbing a hill or entering a tacky corner full throttle, then it pings. Pre-detonation can help cause a blown head gasket. I switched to 50/50 to bring it to above 100 octane and the pinging is gone. There have been a few motor builders that suggest not to run a mix, but I spoke with VP and they say it is fine and running higher octane than your motor needs does absolutely nothing for performance.
I am mixing 93 and VP c12 50/50, and it comes out to 101.

I can get out a good deal on a Wiseco piston and gasket kit (416 11:1. Email me and I'll set you up.

Nick

Another question that I wanted to ask was about a 3 degree vavle job. What exactly will this do for me? What does it take and would would it cost to do? Anybody know?

Thats is the same set-up my cuz is running. He has a hogged out head (self-ported),fcr carb, and a big gun slip-on. He can run 93, but I talked him into running booster with 93. This thing flys, it a great set-up.

Get a JE 10.8:1 piston and you can run pump gas with no problems,,and if ya want to get stonger pulls out of the motor just mix it with a higher octane,,that's what I"m doin. I can run a mix of gas if I want but I can also run 93 octane and never worry about pinging..I figured this was a safe setup,,,no predetonation, dont' have to full with race gas if I dont' want,,plus there can't be that much difference in power between an 11.1 piston and a 10.8:1 piston.

Rico- where can you get a 10:8:1? Have you ever raced a raptor in a sraight line drag? What motor mods are you running? I want something so i don't have to worry about blowin a head gasket.:devil :devil

You can get the 10.8:1 piston from terry at marcums and a cam too,,,this is a safe motor mod that should run strong and not cause any head gaskets blowing,,:D
