auto..w/ a 350 ... my frotn end got folded and moved the altenator and i didnt have a water pump,or altenator and it still ran good...when i go thit and it died i pumpd it a few times and she ran ..then i guess i flooded it and when it started it blew some flames from my jank exhaust and i had to ge t out...but i drove it on the trailor like that

i had to put a horizontal cage around me b4 the derby...i didnt have much funds and i hade manifolds upisde down and that was actualll a bad idea dont do it find headers to come all of the way out of the hood ...umm i ran two electric fans and i wouldnt use any switches inside for my ignition fan or altenator because ive seen a lot of them burn out.. i have on hot wire off the battery and have i wire coming fromm the altenator fan and distributor and i just wire them all together before we run then i know nothing wil burn up... GM is soooo simpe to wir up ask if you need to know how/

ya there probably isn't anything better than a 350 with an auto for that type of thing. your right GM stuff is super easy to wire, and it's pretty damn tough imo.

I saw some show on the travel channel or something and it was about demolishin derbys. I thought it was cool but kinda wierd. It guess it could be fun at times. Is there prize money or just a trophy ??? The one I saw had prize money and a huge trophy.
