my freind NYLT250 has one and its pretty awsome..im sure he will reply.its very fast and he cartwheeled it 6 times goin 60 and it only broke the bumper..not even the lt's fault...no problems other than that so id say its worth it

I have an 86 lt250 and I swear to god I hate the god damn thing. I am sellin it to get a Raptor. Its pretty fast but we have dumped about 1200 dollars into the engine. I would go honda if i were you. Hope it helps.

Ask Guy400 - he is the lt250r master! :D I would take an lt250r over a Blaster anyday :chinese:

A LT250R is definately a step up over a blaster. The LT dominated ATV racing until 86 when Honda brought the R out. The R handles better and there is an endless aftermarket for it, but you can pick up a LT for about half the price of an R so I'd say go for the LT! It's a lot of bang for your buck.
The early LT500's had problems with the crank, but I haven't heard of any common LT250 problems.

waterpumps on the 85-87 i believe was a problem

I like my lt.. it dominates most quads such as the 400ex z400 and honda trx 250r in top speed.. it also is a fun quad just to ride. i have had no problems with it besides the ones that were my fault.. and again u cartwheel a quad doing 60 and tell me ur quads fine.. but its pretty easy to find parts for and they are low price in matenence.. the only thing the r has over it is cosmeticly it has more graphic kits and seat covers and stuff like that but its not much different.

i had an 85 LT and i loved it. it was pretty reliable too considering how old it was and all it had been through. it was fast too! walked all over 400's in drag races. i give em a thumbs up. theres a lot of naysayers out there for the LT's but they don't knwo what their talkin about quadracers are great quads!

Is quadracer maintenance the same as in any other 2 stroke? Just tranny oil, air filter, and a top end every 2 years? What would you look for when buying one?

I know people who had them. one had a lt500, he hated it. Frame was always cracking, motor cases cracked, parts took forever to get, head was warped. He had to rebuild the motor(complete) twice inside of a year, all bearings, many repairs on the frame. He got a 250r and sold it for what he payed for the r, around 3200. another had a lt250r, pretty much the same list, he sold it and bought an r. there is a reason why they are half the price of r's.

the lt250r handles and feels much like a 400ex. These quads are the grand daddy of all performance atv's. they were the benchmark of performance back in the day. I have owned 2 and both have been reliable.

I have never ridden a lt250 but have ridden a couple blasters. I would probably take a lt over a blaster though.

I have rode both and the LT if definatly a big step up from a Blaster.

I've ridden many lt250's and liked most of them. Nobody seemed to have many problems with them. I have the 500 and have to do a complete rebuild every year and a full frame welding twice a year. Nobody seems to have hose problems with the 250's, so id say get rid of the blaster.

That is interesting that you would chose an lt250r over a 400ex - what is your reasoning?
