I'm building a 460ex... does anyone know if the stroker 460 is better than the 91mm bore stock stroke 460?

yes the 460 stroker would be the best bet, although it will cost more money.

There is no 450r around here that has been even close to my 440ex but the guy to beat has a 460ex stroker...I found a really good deal on the parts to build a stock stroke 460 that's a 91mm bore with stock stroke but I am gonna have to split the case regaurdless cause I don't think the stock rod will handle that just didn't know if there would be a differ. '08 450r has 42hp, so with a few bolt on's your already above that... See my point??? the average 450r is going for 2500$ around here... So a grand in parts, you'll have to spend atleast 100 or 200 in cooling parts, you'll have to run high octane fuel, you'll need a different crank, sleeve, piston, then probably gonna need to do some porting and things, a cam, and most stroker cams need hardened rockers, then you'll need stiffer valve springs, HD Studs, all new gaskets your down 2000 bucks by now... So for all that you coulda sold your 400ex and bought a 450r which with the extra cash you could put a HRC Kit with a Slip-on and a Filter and you would be 50+ HP... get my point???? I own a 400ex, I love the thing, I would never dis the bike itself, just saying that in all reality if your looking for power, get a new bike... Your gonna sacrifice all reliablilty with that setup anyway.

I agree with trail rider, the 400 is great and is never get rid of mine but with the parts, blood, sweat and tears your gonna put into it I think u might be alittle disappointed with the outcome compared to a 450 with a few bolt ons would do for you, like he said good be throwing away what the 400ex is known for, reliability..

In all honesty I wouldn't have a valve eating 450 the bikes to beat around here are 460 exs all the 450s here rev good and have fairly quick throttle response but I'm not into replacing valves every 5 races to much maintenance for me but thanks for your input

All my friends ride 450s and none have had valve problems.. fyi

my buddy has a stroked 450r honda and never had any problems with the valves!!!!!

I have an 06 450 dirtbike with nearly 80 hrs and never a valve issue its only been rebuilt once with new piston and rings that things a beast! starts first kick and pulls hard through every gear! Been very reliable

I see you not to fare away from where i am. do yall do any drag racing, like 1/8 mile or 300 foot dirt?

If so ill come up there with two of my bike's, a 426 and a 440.

And if your's or any one up there's 400 out run one of mine ill give the bike to you.

befor any one jumps in i will take the nos off the bike. The reason im putting it out there like that is, it dont take a 460 to be fast.

We beat up on 460's all day long with the lil motor's. You just have the set the bike up right to be fast.

How many time have you built a bike? And with the bike's that you have built or had built, how many have been on a dyno?

Hey man i'm all with you on the well tuned motor thing, I'm not bashing your opinion, just havin some fun. Its a joke man, you just gotta roll with it and keep it goin. You can poke fun at me all you want, these forums have to remain comical and lively so we all don't get to serious.

I sincerely apologize if I offended you with my comments and photo... I get that it can be offensive, but again, if you've been around here long enough you would get that i'm not the kind that is tryin to hurt people.

I apologize to the thread starter, I guess our point is that its best to weigh out your options, whether it is better to just buy a 450r or do the 460ex or just go a little more finely tuned like 400exshop suggested ( which I agree with )... In the end it is up to you!!

No big deal trailrider894 we are all good, but there are some people on here that love to make fun other people and put them down.

And when you put them in there place they cry and have you ban from the site.
