Does anyone know how many grams a stock 400ex piston weighs? Has anyone played with lightening the counter balancer?

Thanks!

Not sure on the piston, but if by "counter balancer" you mean fly wheel, then yes, there is a few comapanys that will lighten the fly wheel for a 400ex. Not sure of the names, but it's been discussed on here several times.

No, I mean the counter balance shaft, I bet the 450R one weighs significantly less than that of the 400ex. I think when a lighter piston goes on, that you could get away with knocking some weight off that piece too.

you could probably talk to some good well known 400ex engine builders and see what they say. My guess is that it might not even be worth the trouble of lightening it??

Not everything is meant to be lightened.... would it give you that much more of a gain if it's possible??

More power? NO.

Quicker throttle response and faster revving? YES.

I noticed that with the higher compression pistons they do indeed weigh more. Is it alot, not really. HOWEVER I can feel alot more vibration now than when I was stock. It doesnt bother me too much. FYI: this is with wiseco pistons, I might try JE next time.
