A few of my favorite "oldies"

Monster Magnet - Space Lord and Powertrip

And the all time best ballad...Lita Ford and Ozzy...Close my eyes forever.

Oh...I disliked most of the "grunge" music scene...which is most of the 90s

Come on, you just posted some cheezy list of generic "80s music". Did you do a google for Big Hair Bands? For crying out loud, you even have Winger in the list. Didn't the stupid nerdy kid from Beavis and Butthead always wear a "Winger" shirt, whenever he wasn't wearing "I Love Unicorns"?

I'd like to see a list of actual SONGS, not just artists. We can make the Official ATVRiders 3-disk Compilation of best songs ever! (we'll probably have to reach a little further back than the 90's, though...)

Now that’s all a mater of opinion isn’t it?
The man asked for ideas for rock, nothing to hard core.

What no maiden? Run to the hills anyone?

Id list my stuff but its pretty much what Bent posted. I will say you cant go wrong with Foreigner tho, might be a bit softer than some rock but its awesome. Jukebox hero comes to mind as my fav.

Also:
Dio- rainbow in the dark as well as holy diver
Danzig - mother
Sammy hagar- heavy metal

Course Im also a fan of the hair metal (hey they had some good songs). Things like Poison-nothin but a good time, also cant go wrong with motley crue or skidd row. Course you cant beat AC/DC or the scorpions for that matter either.

I aint even that old and I like that stuff, its got more talent than most things today!

CJM I’d be here all night if I tried to list them all.lol All the ones I listed came from one of my play list. There so much good stuff out there, sometimes my play list gets so long I don’t have time to play it all.lol

I figured out that the time life series CD’s have some great stuff on them. Most have been remasterd and sound better then the originals did. But I do like to have the whole LP if I can get them. Many of the older songs were put out on 45 so they were just singles.
I wish I knew someone that worked at a pawn shop. I could borrow all the used CD’s that are brought in and rip them all on the hard drive.

For gigs I try to only use something that can everyone can dance to, slow, medium, or fast. There lots of great stuff that can’t really be used at a gig. I always throw in some country, pop, blues, punk to mix it up, depending on the crowed.

Way back when I worked at compusa and we would copy the songs off peoples computers heheh. Also watched videos of err questionable content.

Wish I still had that hard drive full of songs, thing broke tho :(

I’ve have 15+ years of music stored up, so I have 3 separate drives with master music files, just in case.lol
It’s to valuable to leave on just one drive.

well i dont know about you guys but whenever STP 'dead and bloated' comes on i get chills and just wanna rip on my quad.so..

STP 'dead and bloated' for starters but the list goes on with those guys

anything Alice in Chains i.e. 'nutshell' 'brother' 'sea of sorrow' to name a few but really i'll listen to any chains anyday anywhere anytime, and usually do.

u wanted nothing too hard but nothing too soft so i'm just gonna skip the rules hereafter cuz i'm not sure who's worth mentioning that falls into that category.

pantera 'cowboys from hell' 'slaughtered' 'mouth for war' really anything off "vulgar display of power" and "far beyond driven" works for the most part.

megadeth...yea i know dave mustaine is or mayb was outta control but there a lot of good ones on "countdown to extinction".i opted to go see these guys on the small stage at woodstock 99 over i think it was RHCP.who knew how much longer they would be alive/around/together for.missed out on a whole bunch of rioting and looting because of it,who woulda guessed the riots wouldn't be started at the megadeth show.

pearl jam 'black' 'yellow ledbetter' and the list is really endless between released, unreleased, and b side stuff i couldn't even speculate on how much there really is.

lets not forget the "toadies" 'possum kingdom' (come on who went to high school in the 90s and didn't bang their girl to that song) 'i burn' 'away' to name a few others.

lets get real outta control with some "mayhem". the originators essentially of the norwegian dark/death metal scene and the burn the churches plaque that went down in the late 80s early 90s.think it was mr.manson of marilyn manson who started the whole black face paint (not condoning it)and slicing urself (not condoning that either) saga think again.he shoulda been peddling girl scout cookies compared to these guys...see "until the light takes us" on netflix streaming for a taste of these wildmen.*warning* you probably won't view things the same as you may have before you watched it.in one way or another.don't listen to their stuff but i love their ex-drummer ^hellhammer^ who now drums for dimmu borgir.

dimmu borgir 'puritania' and 'burn in hell' are basically where i start and end with these guys unless its a hellhammer drum solo i'm watching on you tube.

last and by far certainly not least......

CLUTCH 'burning beard' 'drink to the dead' 'binge and purge' 'elephant riders' 'ghost' 'promoter (of earthbound causes)' 'dragonfly' 'spacegrass' 'cypress grove' 'immortal' 'mice and gods' 'the mob goes wild' 'electric worry' '10001110101'...some were 90's some were newer but its still clutch so who cares.they aren't time specific thats probly part of why they're my fav band.

wait couple more

hatebreed 'last breath' who doesn't love that song when it comes on in like huevos 1 or 2 or whatever in the "eating s***" segment

soundgarden 'outshined'

311 'beautiful disaster'

ok whew i'm done what a flashback that was.think i'm gonna go to my parents house now to hang in their basement and play coolboarders 1 on ps1.

Saw them live when they opened for Ozzy in 1992 on the No More Tears tour...:D

another of their hits was Prove you wrong

I saw them in a small club way back when. I never liked the song “prove you wrong” very much.
I like “get a grip” and “what it is to burn” though. They had another one called “hands all over you” that was good. They were pretty much a one hit wonder, with snap your fingers.

What!! Did everybody forget one of the greatest bands around? IRON BUTTERFLY, with In the garden on eden. That's the original title. Or Pink Floyd with The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon. Just two of the great bands or am I showing my age again. Just my 2cents.

slightlybent47

No we didn’t forget them; I only posted songs that I might play at a dj gig. There’s lots of music that just doesn’t do well for a venue like that. Doesn’t mean it’s not great music though.
