I wouldn't bother wasting your money, the design of the headpipe really can't be improved unless you have a big bore or high compression possibly, but stock just grind the welds and it should be good.

My sparks header is thicker and better lookin than a lot of headers, so If u could find one def get it, but my other choice would be a FMF Mega Bomb header, I hear they give a good power increase

I put the FMF Powerbomb on my 2012 400X. For $250 it is pretty expensive consider as already mentioned, the factory pipe is good enough. However, the FMF will not rust, it turns a pretty bluish color with age/heat and it actually did quiet the machine down. Rather, it changed the sound and is not nearly as raspy any more. I noticed a bump in mid-range power with it as well.

I have the hi-flow header on my 300ex, it didn't rust but the water splashing on it and burning makes that brown build-up, steel wool might work but I don't want to scratch it. Bit of a pain. Aftermarket headers look very nice, until you ride it for about an hour then they turn all blue and purple and sometimes just ruins the look.

Before I started my hybrid I was tempted to go to a exhaust shop and have a custom made 2 into 1 like the EX header except the 2 would run down both sides of the frame and meet in the middle under the seat where I would have also had a custom made slipon.

I was thinking of using bigger piping with a nice metal finish to it and running them as evenly length'd as possible. It would be like a MX'able inframe 2 into 1 drag pipe.

Haha steel wool, scotch bright and even sand paper clean headers up really good for me

Yeah that's what I use on the stock ones, but what are the FMF ones made of?

Steel wool wont hurt a FMF header. THey are actually really strong.

The FMF headers are stainless steel.
