This is not off of a 400ex but I thought it was interesting. Working on this quad for a buddy and this is pics of the flywheel hub and crankshaft. The motor had a bad solid sounding nock to it and was getting metal in the oil. Small particals. Low houred 07 350 yamaha. The key way wasn't sliped and the hub was on the tight not loose. I know this ain't the yamaha forum but thought you all might find this interesting. Have yet to know what caused it.

Pic of the crank is not to good, it looks worse than the hub does tho.

Is he the orig owner? It would appear that some body had that off at one time, forgot to install the key, once they realized the issue, they fixed their mistake. If the key was not spun or damaged their is no way that could happen.

Yes he bought it brand new here in town. Was there when purchased. No engine work has ever been done other than adjust vales. Its kinda interesting i thought. il snap a pic of the key tonight when i get to the shop.
