My 2007 350RX is becoming a YZR426

Back in 2007 I finished building my brothers 350RX that he started in the early 2000's. It is a HRE frame (built new as a 350RX), stem (plus 2" back 2''), air box and many other parts, laeger CR500 swingarm, PEP CR500 shock, Burgard long travel front end (Travis Spaders old front end), and much more.

My brother lost interest in the build and needed space at his garage so he said I can have it to ride if I finish it....so I did.

Here it is as it was meant to be as a 350RX.

I raced MX in the 90s and I'm old school at heart so I liked the idea of having a new aftermarket 350Rx but I got tired of riding with all my buddys and there new quads with the old little 350 motor. So i decided to move up to a Yz426 motor this year.

I tore it down and took it back to HRE and here are some of the pictures showing some of the frame mods we did.

Frame dent needed to fit the YZ into the frame.

I think the frame is done but I have been looking at it for a week now waiting for something else to do to it to pop into my head....lol

Nice fab work on the frame looks great! Thats a good spot for the oil tank almost like stock yfz mounting. Keep posting pics as you go it looks like its gonna turn out great!

Yesterday HRE was firing up his oven so I went over there and get my small things powder coated. I can never take a good picture of blue things but the mounts are a Yamaha purplish blue.

The oil tank is silver vain to match my stem and A arms.

I decided that I wanted to make my own bumper, so HRE ordered up some aluminum and we got to bending and this is what I came up with.

I guess it's normal to have to clearance the bottom of 400ex spindles with a long travel front end, but doing that ate up all my time to work on it tonight.

I was wondering why did you choose the 426 motor? Do you plan on making it electric start somehow? Have you ever tried starting a 426 because they might be the biggest pain in the *** to start ever...

They start as easy as a 2 stroke with auto decomp hotcams.

The biggest thing I need to do is finish the pipe and sand off the powder coat for my pro pegs and brake pedal to slide on.

Damn, that pipe looks good!! I wish I had access to the stuff to make a NICE pipe like that. Mine is a YFZ pipe that's been modified.

Thanks man, the header is from YFZ, I just shortened it to make it fit better. The tail pipe is the one I made for the 350x motor, it is 2'' and took some time to get it to look good.

This thing is FAR more fun with the YZ444 then the 350x motor.
