What's it worth?

Hey Guys,

I've been out of the sport for a while with work and other projects. I've been thinking of selling my 99' 400ex. I've owned the bike since 2002. It saw alot of riding time but it's still in good shape. Oil has always been kept fresh, air filter is cleaned regularly. Doesn't smoke. It was rebuilt several years ago. I wrecked the bike hard back in 2006 and had to replace the frame and some of the front suspension. It has a 2001 frame which I do not have the title for. I still have the 99' frame with the title to it.

Mods:
Elka Triple Rate front shocks (1 hour on fresh service) I think they're compression adjustable
Stock rear shock converted to Dual Rate by Elka
Hole Shot tires on stock rims (70% Tread left)
AC Bumper and Skid
Armadillo Swing arm Skid
Renthal fat bars and big bar clamp
Jet Kit
Stock Header with Shorty Bill's Thunder Silencer
Bored to a 406 with 10.8:1 piston
Good Chain and Sprockets
Fresh Brake Pads
2001 Yellow Plastic that is NOT cracked or busted
Seat cover has a small tear in it
Hubs pc'ed black
All wheel bearings felt good
It could probably use some tie rod ends


I would keep it but it just sets to much since I have a ltr450 I ride now.

Were i live in ny if it was mine i would put 2150 on it and see what happens.

I bought a 2004 in mint condition with white bros slip on, k and n, hole shots all around, full skids, and a few other goodies for 1800. if you could get $1400 id say you got a good deal

I'd say you could get somewhere between 1900 and 2200 for it.

i just recently purchased an 03 that needed a timing chain so it wasnt running, it came with a ful exhaust header and big gun exhaust, k/n and jet kit, i picked it up for 650 bux. so it really depends on how clean the bike is and the paper work and reg. if you look on craigslist they range from 1300 to 2200.

paid $1400 for mine last year, 2001 with a few mods. Done a lot to it since, probably $600 or so in new accessories and miscellaneous stuff like normal maintenance it needed when I bought it. Most 400EX's in my area are going between $1700 and $2200 with little to no mods... and 450R's are going from $2800-3500... These are private sellers, not dealers... dealers will rape you on $$$.

I mean only you know what your bottom dollar is, and if that number is realistic based on what you see everything else going for. So take your bottom number and add a few hundred bucks for room for bartering.

Or keep it and let a buddy to ride it and make them pay for their own gas. it would at least keep it running and from sitting. all depends on what you can get for it and if you think it is a fair price. just my 0.02.
