I need a new chain...my o-ring chains seem like its harder to roll my bike with...than my non. But my non always gets a kink in a link ...so what's best?

It really just depends on where and how you ride in my opinion. I prefer the D.I.D. X-Ring ATV chain. Seems like they hold up a lot better and longer than any of the rest that I've had over the years.

that is the same chain I use, on my dirtbikes also. it lasts years, on my atvs, 4-5 front sprockets and 2 rear sprockets.

I had primary drive one, it failed on me good. It snapped on me at a mx track. Funny, that was about 2 months after being warned out them only lasting around year on a different site. I do use the sprockets, cheap and last a reasonable time. Now i use primary drive front, IronMan rear(dirt tricks sells them, near industructable and shows very little wear, after 3 years of use) and DID atv x-ring chain. Everything but the front sprocket is expensive, but it works.

Same here, been using the x-ring chain on my 250R and other 450R for years (sprockets also), still use a DID x-ring on my race 450R. (Primary Drive front and Ironman rear sprockets on it.) Primary Drive x-ring seems to hold up just as well as my DID x-ring chain, and quite a bit cheaper also.

deathman53, what Primary Drive chain were you using? Years ago I did try one of their non o-ring chains, that thing was horrible, would stretch after every ride. Chain would be at perfect adjustment at the start of the ride, and would be horribly loose by the end. Figure it would eventually stop streching, but even after almost a dozen rides, still horrible. Finally replaced it, will never try one of those again, only the x-ring chains for me.

I have the Primary Drive X-Ring on my Quad too, I've only ridden with it one season though.

So, is that a none o-ring chain?

RK X-ring here, long lasting and easy to maintain. Currently paired with Ti-moly sidewinders front and rear. They have help up a couple seasons and still look great riding 80% woods 20% track.

Why do you guys like the O-rings in your chains ?

My Cr500 was hard on non o-ring chains. I switched to the o-ring type and it was still in great shape years later when I sold the bike. I lubed both the same same. I'm sold on o-ring chains.

You sayin the O-rings made your chain stronger ?

Not stronger. They improve lubrication to the links to extend their working life. The rubber o-ring holds factory applied grease inside the pin and bushing wear areas. They also prevent dirt and other contaminates from entering the inside of the chain linkages, thus preventing significant wear of the linkages.

O-ring chains provide better lube retention, they also have a higher drag co-efficiency than non o-ring chains.

I would suggest a top quality non oring chain, +8000/8100 lbs...high strength, less friction.

the chain lasts longer. keep the crap out of the rollers/pins. non o-ring chains don't keep the crap out. sure you can wash it after every ride and lube a non o-ring chain up but the damage has already been done.

no if and or butt about it. o-ring will last longer.
